Mohun Bagan Athletic Club - Centenary 23.9.1989

Mohun Bagan Athletic Club is a professional football club based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Established in 1889, it is one of the oldest football clubs in Asia and one of the most successful clubs in India.

In 1911 Mohun Bagan became the first Indian club to win a major title, when they defeated the East Yorkshire Regiment, 2-1 to lift the IFA Shield. With 13 Federation Cup titles and 4 National League/I-League titles, Mohun Bagan is the most successful club in India in major national tournaments. The football team has also won Rovers Cup, Durand Cup, IFA Shield and the Calcutta Football League. 
In 1989, during the club`s centenary year, the Government of India issued a postage stamp to commemorate the 1911 victory of the team

Mohun Bagan has played a vital part in contributing numerous players to the Indian national football team, especially in India's famous triumphs in 1951 and 1962 Asian Games. Mohun Bagan is one of the best supported clubs in India and boasts the highest average attendance figures in I-League
