Sahir Ludhianvi 8.3.2013

Sahir Ludhianvi is the pen name of Abdul Hayee (8 March 1921 – 25 October 1980) who is popularly known as Sahir. Sahir was an Indian poet and film lyricist who wrote in the Hindi and Urdu languages. His work influenced Indian cinema, in particular films Sahir won a Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist for Taj Mahal (1963). He won a second Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist for his work on Kabhie Kabhie (1976) and he was awarded the Padma Shri in 1971. On 8 March 2013, the ninety-second anniversary of Sahir's birth, a commemorative stamp was issued in his honour.

Shyam Lal Gupta 4.3.1997

Shyam Lal Gupta, popularly known as Shyam Lal Gupta Parshad, (1896-1977) was an Indian poet and lyricist. A song (Jhanda Uncha Rahe Hamara) written by him which featured in the 1948 film, Azadi Ki Raah Par, (sung by Sarojini Naidu), has been accepted as the flag song of India and is sung every year during the flag hoisting ceremony at the Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations. A winner of the fourth highest civilian award of Padma Shri in 1969, he was honoured again by the Government of India in 1997 when a postage stamp was issued in his honour.
