The stamp designed by the India Security Press shows Indian Naval Ship TARAGIRI, a Leander Class frigate which was constructed at the Mazagon Dock Shipyard in Bombay. The First day cover illustration shows a helicopter on board an Indian Naval Ship.
The Indian Post & Telegraphs Department issued this special postage stamp on the Indian Navy to commemorate Navy Day 1981. Navy Day is observed on 4th December every year.
