41st Session of the International Statistical Institute 13.12.1977

The ISI was founded in 1855 as an international association for securing international comparability of statistical data. Since then its aims have widened considerably to 'promoting the use of statistical methods, the training of statisicians,.... and in the furthering of international statistical relations. Its present membership, ncluding three specialized sections, consists of about 2000 statisticians from 125 countries. About 800 delegates are expected to participate i the Delhi Session.
The Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department issued a commemorative stamp to mark this important occasion. The stamp depicts a typical statistical diagram of population growth and percentage variation. The emblem of 41st Session of the International Statistical Institute is also depicted.
