The next stamp issued on the theme of Festival of India in London was also issued on 23.3.1982. This stamp was on the progress made by India in Science and Technology. The stamp shows the Radio telescope at Ooty or Uthagamadalam as it is now called.
This large Radio Telescope, which is in the form of a parabolic cylinder 530 M long X 30 M wide, operating at 327 MHz, is one of the largest telescopes in the world operating at Meter wavelengths. It is four times more sensitive than the 76 meter diameter Jodrell Bank parabolic dish.
Welcome to My Indian stamps, first-day covers and postcards gallery. These items have all been collected by me since the age of seven. My desire here, is to show as often as I can, some of my presumed beauties and talk about them. And hopefully make Your Day in the bargain. In case you want a better view, JUST CLICK on the picture and it will be ENLARGED. Please also see my picture postcards blog www.mypicturepostcards.blogspot.in, and also my stamps blog www.letstalkstamps.blogspot.com.
